When a patron owes money on his/her account all other
*known* accounts authorized by the same person should also be blocked until the
fines are paid. In other words, if a patron set up a child’s account and that
account owes money, then the parent’s account, the child’s account, and any
other juvenile accounts authorizes by the SAME parent should be blocked. Or if
a parent owes money, then all his/her children’s accounts should be blocked.
Be very careful not to base the blocks on anything other
than the authorizing name. Do not block based on same addresses or any other
family associations.
You aren’t expected to go looking for the associated
accounts, but a lot of times we are familiar with family ties based on working
with the public and can identify these connections.
